Hold Each Other Accountable
Objective: create a better way for users to organize their plans and to access resources

Context
Parents/caregivers who have children with disabilities struggle to find the necessary resources to financially and emotionally support their children.

Our client who has experienced how long and arduous it is to create their child's plan, worked with us to address these concerns in an app that streamlines the process of preparing for the child's future.

My Plan Hub
Created an organized space to easily follow steps and deadlines

Task Manager
To help users organize tasks by urgency and importance
Problem
Users need a better way to organize their plans and access resources in order to prevent confusion and save time.
Solution
How Might We...
-
make resources/documentation more accessible?
-
customize user planning and organization based on their needs and concerns?
Research
Understanding our Users
Goal: Understand our potential users' needs and concerns when planning for the future for a child with disabilities.

After conducting our interviews, we found that the parents/guardians want to secure the child's future, but their circumstances and lack of reliable resources make it more difficult to complete their ideal plan.

3 out of 5 felt like they didn't have enough time plan due to daily needs of child

4 out of 5 found it difficult to find reliable resources

4 out of 5 had multiple assets but still incomplete plan
Analyzing Our Competition
After analyzing current products in the market, we found that there was little variety to address the needs for different disabilities, with autism having the most resources. We focused on the need for certain features and how they address certain wants. Here are my takeaways:

-
There needs to be better customization that will cater to different needs like financial or social wellbeing.
-
Resources should be credible and more accessible.
-
Hold Each Other Accountable should create a safe community where users can reach out for help from experienced peers or professionals.

Ideate
Sketching and Wireframing
I created possible iterations of pages of what the user would see when navigating their Plan page and how other resources could be integrated.

After sketching, we created wireframes for 3 main flows that we would use in our prototype:

-
Onboarding Process: Creating an account and personalized plan
-
My Plan Page: How users will organize and view their plan(s)
-
Task Management System: Creating and managing tasks
Visual System

Usability Testing
We had the users accomplish 3 tasks and took feedback on what we did well and how we can improve.
Task 1: Sign up and create an account
Task 2: Find out more information about Special Needs Trust
Task 3: Add an urgent task to your task list
Here are our takeaways:
-
Improve clarity in wording by removing "priority" language
-
Reorder steps in onboarding process for better flow
-
Remove certain actions in order to simplify and direct user more clearly for certain tasks
-
Create better functionality in task management to be more versatile
What are the next steps to development?
-
Research from experienced caretakers and experts needs to be compiled to provide reliable information for the "Resources" Page.
-
Decide how users can create forums and community with users having the choice to share help or request help.
-
Task Page incomplete and in progress may be confusing and implementing Eisenhower Matrix in future iterations
-
Explore ways how users can manage and share planning while maintaining privacy.
